Melton Secondary College has a highly successful and extensive inter-school sports program involving a number of individual and team sports. As a member of School Sport Victoria, we compete in the Western Region.
Interschool Sports is usually scheduled with the following sports in association with School Sport Victoria.
Swimming (house, division, region, state), lawn bowls, baseball, softball, cricket, tennis, senior volleyball and golf.
Athletics (house), football, soccer, badminton, netball, and cross-country (division, region and state)
Athletics (sectional), basketball, hockey, table tennis and junior volleyball.
Term 1 and Term 3 finals, athletics (region and state).
Western Metropolitan Region finals of each sport are usually held in the term following the Division competition.
Melton Secondary College also enters some sports conducted by affiliated sports parent bodies including rugby union, rugby league and squash.
Students have the opportunity to compete for their houses at our annual swimming sports day at Melton Waves pool.
All students at Melton Secondary College attend Athletics Day and compete if they wish. Events include, running, discuss, shotput, long jump and more. Everyone who participates earns points for their house.
Each student is placed in one of four Houses that are named after creeks in the area:
Students and staff are randomly placed in Houses except for those that have a family history in a particular House. To encourage family tradition, these students are placed in the same House as their siblings, or even their parents.
Melton Secondary College is passionate about Outdoor Education and the opportunities that it provides for our students. Outdoor education provides opportunities to develop positive relationships with the environment, others and ourselves through interaction with the natural world.
Our college is fortunate to have a well-resourced senior outdoor education program, with increasing opportunities for engagement in active outdoor education in junior years also.
