Melton Secondary College has provided young people in the Melton area with successful futures since 1975. We are a medium sized, single campus, co-educational school for students from Years 7 to 12.

Large enough to offer a challenging and diverse curriculum, the school is small enough to foster individual development. Our school is organised into three sub-schools: Junior, Middle and Senior each led by an Assistant Principal and Leading Teacher.

Students also belong to one of four School Houses. They participate in House Sports and accumulate House Points for academic and communal responsibility. The Houses have the Aboriginal names of local creeks: Djerriwarrh, Kororoit, Pywheitjorrk and Yangardook.

High expectations, well-planned courses and high quality teaching ensure that all students progress through the curriculum in a systematic manner. Students are challenged and encouraged by highly qualified and committed teachers to achieve high academic results in both the core and co-curricula programs.

For Years 7 to 10, the curriculum is based upon the Victorian Essential Learning standards and we are moving quickly to align courses to the Victorian Curriculum. At the senior end, (Years 10 – 12) the school provides courses in the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL).

The program offers in-depth learning in all academic areas, but provides a special focus on learning in Science, Sport and the Performing Arts.

Our Student Excellence program provides enrichment and engagement opportunities to meet the needs of students who are progressing at a more rapid rate.

A strong Student Voice and Leadership program ensures that students have an active role in building outstanding programs for student learning.

Student learning is supported by an outstanding range of facilities, landscaped gardens and large open spaces. Our recently opened Junior Learning Neighbourhood and state-of-the art Science Centre provide flexible teaching and learning spaces, Interactive Whiteboards and a wide range of digital technology.

The school has specialised classrooms for Food, Materials and Information Technology as well as Performing and Visual Arts.

Our shared use of the Melton Indoor Recreation Centre provides a three-court gymnasium and the Melton Waves Leisure Centre and Melton Tennis Club courts are an easy 400 meters walk.
